Kids' Chance of Missouri Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to children whose parent has been severely injured or killed in a work-related accident that is eligible for compensation under the Missouri Workers' Compensation Law.
Duration of the Scholarship
The scholarship is valid for one academic year. Students are required to reapply annually. The awarding of scholarships is dependent on the availability of funds.
Permissible Uses of Scholarship Funds
The scholarship money can be used for tuition, books, supplies, accommodation, meals, and other education-related expenses that are not covered by other grants or scholarships.
Eligible Educational Institutions
The scholarship can be used at any accredited post-high school educational institution, such as a university, college, trade school, community college, or graduate school.
Required Documentation
Your application will not be considered by the Scholarship Committee until all the following documents have been received:
- A fully completed Kids' Chance of Missouri scholarship application (Refer to the New Applicant form and Renewal Applicant form below and fill out as required).
- High school transcript of grades, if you are a graduating senior.
- The most recent transcript, if you are currently enrolled in a college, trade, or vocational school.
- A copy of the Financial Aid Award Letter for the upcoming academic year from the educational institution you intend to attend. IMPORTANT: If your Financial Aid Award Letter is still being processed and cannot be submitted with your application, you must send a copy of this letter via FAX or, if the letter is not yet available, get in touch with the Kids' Chance of Missouri office. YOUR APPLICATION CANNOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT THE FINANCIAL AID AWARD LETTER.
- A copy of your Student Account Statement (your student bill) for the upcoming academic year from your institution's Bursar's Office/Business Office. This statement will likely be sent to you by your institution by early July. Please email or fax the statement to the Kids Chance office at the address provided below. YOUR APPLICATION CANNOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT STATEMENT.
- Proof that your parent has suffered a serious injury/illness due to a work-related accident; for instance, a copy of a court order, a settlement agreement, or a statement from the workers' compensation insurance carrier. Note: A doctor's statement or Social Security Administration statement is not sufficient.
- Death certificate of the deceased parent, if applicable.
- A copy of your SAR (Student Aid Report). You should have received your SAR from the Federal Government after you submitted your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- 2 Tax returns for the injured parent's household: (1) the year before the disability (2) most current tax
