Denny’s Hungry for Education Scholarship

Introduction
Since 2011, Denny’s Hungry for Education program has been investing in student futures, distributing more than $2.7 million in scholarships to support students who are making a positive impact in their communities. In 2025, Denny’s HFE will partner with the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) to award scholarships to high school and college students who present ideas for strengthening community ties.
Eligibility
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution (high school or college) located in the continental United States or Puerto Rico.
- Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5.
- If a selected recipient is under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Assignment of Rights before the award is finalized.
Required Application Materials
- Essay: High school applicants must submit a 300-word essay and college applicants a 500-word essay addressing the prompt: “How Denny’s can help bring communities together?”
- Recent portrait-style headshot (no selfies or cropped images); photo must be suitable for print use in announcement materials.
- Most recent school transcript uploaded as a PDF (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
- One-page resume saved as a PDF.
Use of Scholarship Funds
Scholarship awards must be applied toward educational expenses at an accredited post-secondary institution. Eligible uses include tuition and related fees, textbooks, course supplies, and equipment required for classes.
