Overview

Chugach Heritage Foundation (CHF) provides scholarships to support students pursuing postsecondary education, vocational certificates, job training, and internship opportunities. Vocational Scholarship

College Scholarship

This scholarship is distinct from vocational and graduate awards.

Graduate Scholarship

Regional Focus Scholarship

The Regional Focus Scholarship provides incentive funding for students who intend to work within the Chugach Region while pursuing their education. Each academic year CHF designates specific focus areas; for 2024–2025 the priorities are Medical programs, Maritime, and Education. This award is available to students already eligible for the CHF College or Vocational scholarships. It is intended to encourage career paths that directly benefit regional communities.

Description: Incentive award for students committed to working in the Chugach Region in designated focus areas.

Eligibility: Must be eligible for the CHF College or Vocational scholarships and intend to work within the Chugach Region in the designated focus areas.

Award Value: Up to $1,000 per academic year, awarded in addition to College or Vocational scholarships.

Barney Uhart Memorial Scholarship

The Barney Uhart Memorial Scholarship is a competitive award for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students that includes both funding and practical experience. Awardees participate in a paid summer internship over two summers as part of the program. In addition to internship compensation, recipients may receive substantial CHF scholarship funding and support for travel and lodging related to the internship. The program is intended to provide hands-on career preparation alongside financial support.

Description: Competitive scholarship for seniors at the undergraduate level or enrolled graduate students, paired with internship experience.

Eligibility: Upper-level undergraduate or graduate enrollment and selection through CHF’s competitive process.

Alyeska Alaska Native Scholarship

The Alyeska Alaska Native Scholarship supports students who express a strong interest in working within Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) or the oil and gas industry. Applicants must first be approved for a CHF College, Vocational, or Graduate Scholarship to be considered. Funding for this scholarship is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants. This award is targeted to encourage careers in the energy sector.
