A. Procedures
The Ohio CattleWomen’s Association awards scholarships annually or at the Association’s discretion to outstanding college students who meet the stated criteria. Awards are distributed based on the information provided in the application and supporting materials. Applicants must submit a complete packet by the stated deadline for consideration. The Association administers the program and sets the number and value of awards each year.
Description: Up to four scholarships are awarded each year to qualifying college students involved in beef production or promotion.
Award Value: Each scholarship is $1,000.

B. Criteria
Eligibility is limited to applicants with a direct connection to beef production or promotion and to Ohio residents. Applicants (or their parents) must hold membership in a local or state beef organization. Candidates must be at least one year out of high school and enrolled in the second year or higher of a four-year college program when applying. The scholarship may be received no more than twice, and academic performance of at least a 2.5 GPA is required.
Eligibility: Applicant must be the child of a beef producer or actively involved in beef production/promotion; applicant and parents must be Ohio residents; parent or applicant must belong to a local/state beef organization; applicant must be one year out of high school and in at least the second year of a four-year college program; GPA 2.5 minimum; preference given to agriculture/beef majors and to students attending Ohio schools; scholarship may be awarded a maximum of two times.

- Applicant and parents must be Ohio residents and linked to a beef organization.
- Minimum academic standing: 2.5 GPA; in at least second year of a four-year college program.
- Scholarship can be awarded to the same applicant a maximum of two times.
C. Method of Application
Application materials must be obtained, completed, and mailed to the specified contact by the December deadline. Required items include the completed application form, a current official college transcript, a photograph, and up to three letters of recommendation from outside sources (optional but limited to three). All documents should be postmarked by the deadline and sent together to the contact address below. Application forms are available by phone, mail, or via the Association website.
Application Timeline: Complete application packet (application form, photo, transcript, and up to three letters of recommendation) must be postmarked by the December deadline and mailed together to the address below.

- Request or download the application form; fill it out completely.
- Include a photo, official current college transcript, and up to three recommendation letters.
- Send all documents together, postmarked by the December deadline, to Connie O’Connell at the address above.
D. Selection Process
The OCW Scholarship Committee, appointed by the Ohio CattleWomen’s Association president, reviews all eligible applications. The committee may conduct interviews with applicants if deemed necessary to inform its decisions. Final selection of recipients is made by the committee based on the application materials and any interviews. Recipients are publicly announced at the Association’s annual meeting.

E. Method of Distribution
Scholarship funds are issued by check made payable directly to the recipient. Presentation of scholarship checks takes place during the Ohio Cattlemen’s Annual Meeting in January. Recipients should plan to attend the meeting for the award presentation unless alternate arrangements are specified by the Association. The Association handles disbursement and any associated administrative steps.
