Writers of the Future Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by L. Ron Hubbard
The Writers of the Future Contest, established by L. Ron Hubbard, presents a unique platform for emerging authors of science fiction, fantasy, and light horror to have their work evaluated by industry veterans and exposed to a broad readership.
Participants are invited to submit a short story in the aforementioned genres, with a word limit of 17,000. The content should not include excessive violence or explicit sexual scenes. AI submissions are not permitted. The contest is not open to professional writers. There is no entry fee and authors retain all rights to their work. Each participant can submit one story per quarter, totaling up to four submissions annually. The judging process is anonymous and based solely on the quality of the work. For further information, please refer to the contest rules.
The Writers of the Future Contest is judged exclusively by professional authors. Every quarter, cash prizes of $1,000, $750, and $500 are awarded. Each year, one story from the four quarterly first-place winners is chosen by a panel of judges as the grand prize winner. The author of the grand prize-winning story is honored with the L. Ron Hubbard Golden Pen Award and an additional cash prize of $5,000.
DEADLINES FOR QUARTERLY SUBMISSIONS:
