DAR American Indian Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Daughters of the American Revolution

Value: $4,000
Awards Available: 1
Deadline : Jan 31, 2026

Every year, a scholarship is granted to a Native American student, regardless of age, tribe, or state, who is enrolled in a college or technical program, has a financial need, and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent GPA on the scale used by their educational institution. The applicant must be a Native American and able to provide proof of membership in a tribe recognized at the state and/or federal level. The scholarship is open to students in vocational training or undergraduate or graduate programs at a college or university, with a preference for undergraduate students.

The scholarship amount is $4,000.00, and multiple scholarships may be awarded each year.

Creating Brighter Futures

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) annually grants several scholarships to students committed to pursuing higher education. DAR provides scholarships for students studying history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science, and English.

All scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants must be attending or planning to attend an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • All multi-year scholarships, usually renewable for up to four years, must be for consecutive years of attendance.
  • Awards are determined based on academic achievement, dedication to the field of study, and/or financial need, or other specific scholarship restrictions.
  • Awards are deposited with the recipient’s college or university, and any unused funds are returned to the DAR.
  • Applicants can only receive one national scholarship from the DAR Scholarship Committee.

The DAR Scholarship Committee Utilizes an Online Application Process

DAR is excited to announce that students applying for scholarships provided by the DAR Scholarship Committee will submit their applications through the online application portal. Applications sent via email or mail will no longer be accepted, except for the Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship.

The scholarship application portal is currently closed. The application process is entirely online through the DAR Academic Works Portal. The portal will be open for the upcoming year from November 1 through January 31, closing at 11:59 pm (Hawaii Time).
