Nebraska 4-H Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Nebraska 4-H Foundation
Introduction
The Nebraska 4-H Foundation provides annual scholarship opportunities for Nebraska 4-H members. Each year the Foundation awards up to $22,000 in scholarships to 4-H youth across the state.
How to apply
- To be considered, applicants must submit the Nebraska 4-H Achievement Application for state-level review by January 5. Follow the directions posted on the Nebraska 4-H Achievement Application webpage.
- Submit only one Achievement Application even if you wish to be considered for multiple Foundation scholarships.
- If you are applying solely for the Joe Citta, Jr. Scholarship for Outdoor Stewardship, use the separate scholarship application linked for that award.
- Applicants are encouraged to consult their county Extension Office and the financial aid office at the college they plan to attend; additional grants, scholarships, or low-interest loans may be available.
- Scholarship offerings are subject to change at any time without prior notice.
Use and confidentiality of application materials
- Materials submitted with the Achievement Application are treated as confidential. Personal information about scholarship recipients may be used for local publicity or press releases.
- Transcripts and test scores will be seen only by the application review committee.
General eligibility requirements (applies to all Nebraska 4-H Foundation scholarships unless a specific scholarship states otherwise)
- Must be a current high school senior graduating in the spring of the current year and planning to attend college that fall, or be a current college freshman at an accredited university (see individual scholarship rules for school-specific variations).
- Exception: Applicants for the Grand Island Horse Scholarship may apply after their sophomore year of high school.
- Must have completed at least one year of 4-H and be a current 4-H member unless a scholarship’s specific criteria say otherwise.
- Additional, scholarship-specific eligibility conditions may apply; review the individual scholarship descriptions for details.
Selection criteria
Scholarship recipients are chosen based on the overall strength of their applications, with emphasis on:
- 4-H involvement and background
- Leadership experience
- Motivation and intent to pursue further education
- Academic accomplishments
Awarding procedure
1. Scholarship funds will be released only after the recipient demonstrates satisfactory academic standing in college (minimum 2.0 GPA, C average).
2. The recipient must submit a copy of their first-semester college grades (or the semester following the application review) to the Nebraska 4-H Foundation before funds are disbursed.
3. Once the Foundation receives the transcript showing satisfactory standing, scholarship payment will be sent directly to the recipient’s college Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
